Responsible to provide effective Leadership as needed for the design, validation and delivery of clinically and useful laboratory services. Supervise the technical performance of the staff and be readily available for consultation to the laboratory staff and clients. Responsible for all duties of the Quality Systems Manager including providing effective leadership for activities necessary to ensure communication, training, competency assessment and ongoing compliance monitoring with requirements under the laboratory’s quality management system.
Overall administrative responsibility for laboratory operations including operation management, fiscal management, human resource management, materials management, and customer/patient relations
Post-Baccalaureate’s Degree in management, business, and/or laboratory related sciences required with a baccalaureate degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology or the equivalent. Minimum of 6 years of pertinent clinical laboratory working experience and 5 years management experience required. Must qualify via education experience under the State of New York regulations (Department of Health) and federal regulations (CLIA). Knowledge of CLIA, CAP, The Joint Commission, local, state, federal regulations required. Familiar with current trends/issues pertinent to hospital/compliance issues in general and laboratory issues in particular; Strong computer skills including proficiency with a Lab information System. Knowledge of budget preparation and monitoring, and accreditation requirements. Ability to coordinate operations of large, technical, and office support staff. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with many departments as well as the community and outside agencies.
