Histology Technician
 
New York Cancer Specialists (NYCBS), a prominent and respected Oncology/Hematology group, is seeking a Histology Technician to join a well-established and growing pure sub-specialty practice with academic affiliation. Clinics from Southampton to NYC. Practice manages a freestanding outpatient 7-day per week Cancer Center with extensive chemotherapy administration, Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy and Research department.
In this role you will:

• Perform routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides, for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist(s).
• Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples.
• Process paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting.
• Ensure proper tissue processing, embedding, and microtomy.
• Perform cover slipping of stained slides either manually or automated.
• Perform recuts requested by a Pathologist.
• Prepare solutions and reagents for stain procedures.
• Perform stains procedures.
• Utilize IHC instrumentation.
• Perform filing of finished blocks and slides.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and troubleshooting minor equipment failures. Document remedial actions such as repairs and repeated tests.
• Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, and document all quality control activities.
• Ensure all corporate safety, quality control, and quality assurance standards are met.
• Ensure compliance with all local, federal, NY State, CLIA, and CAP regulations.
• Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
• Responsible for training and cross-training other employees.
• Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.

Max salary: $55.71 per hour (based on experience)
