SUPERVISING CLINICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST

Natividad is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Under general direction, the incumbent will oversee the daily activities of the clinical laboratory staff on assigned shifts; have responsibility for the laboratory operations in the absence of the Manager; carry assigned functional assignments and do special projects; personally perform technologist duties; and perform related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

License: Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist issued by the State of California Department of Health Services.

Experience: Three years of experience in a clinical laboratory, one year of which shall have been equivalent in type and level to a Senior Clinical Laboratory Technologist for the County of Monterey.

Education/Training: Completion of the course work leading to a Bachelor’s degree with a major in clinical laboratory science or a related field, including one year internship in an accredited clinical laboratory OR completion of such other education and experience pattern that is accepted by the State of California, Department of Health Services for licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.

Thorough knowledge of: Principles, practices and procedures of clinical laboratory operations, including chemistry, microbiology, hematology, serology, coagulation, mycology, parasitology and immunohematology; procedures, materials, supplies and equipment used in routine and specialized laboratory testing; the calibration, operation and maintenance of laboratory testing equipment.
