Full-time, 40 hours, Days

The Director of Laboratory Operations (“Director”) will provide leadership, direction and administration of all aspects of the Lab. The Director will be able to balance strategic vision with day-to-day operations.  Strong interpersonal skills and financial acumen required.  Incumbent must be a team player with proven skills in hiring, motivating, and building strong teams which constantly deliver the highest quality of service. The Director shall be responsible for the operations of all laboratory services at Harbor Medical Associates (“HMA”), including the Main Lab (541 Main Street), Cancer Center Lab (101 Columbian Street) and DFCCC Lab (51 Performance Drive), all in Weymouth, as well as phlebotomy services, support services (couriers, etc.) and point-of-care testing (POCT) across all HMA sites.  
The combined labs perform in excess of one million lab tests per year and generate approximately $32 million in gross patient service revenue (as of FY2019).  The combined laboratory staff includes approximately 12.0 FTE of testing personnel and 17.5 FTE of phlebotomy personnel.  The Director must manage the total expenses for the combined HMA laboratory operations.  As part of the BWH and MGB laboratory teams, the Director collaborates closely with site leadership to streamline and optimize patient care delivery and laboratory testing/services according to established best practices across all HMA sites.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in health administration or related field required.  
  • At least 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting and a minimum of 2 years supervisory experience required. 
  • Lab management experience highly desirable. 
  • ASCP or equivalent certification required.
