Job Description:

ResponsibilitiesAs the Senior Clinical Laboratory Specialist for Quality Safety & Education, you will provide leadership and technical expertise for the quality and compliance program within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Primary duties include providing leadership, support, and expertise on safety programs, the continuing education program, and the UCLA Clinical Laboratory Scientist Student program. You will also maintain quality systems throughout our multidisciplinary laboratory environment while ensuring adherence to all regulations, laws, guidelines, and standards of the licensing, accrediting, government and credentialing agencies. Duties include:

•Provide support for CLS student program, such as coordinating training assignments, schedules, orientation, and lectures
•Manage documentation of educational programs provided under the Laboratory’s Continuing Education license
•Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and UCLA guidelines
•Perform assessments/audits
•Develop new policies, processes and procedures
•Provide technical review for both the laboratory and UCLA Health
•Review data trends for risk management/process improvement
•Oversee document control and record retention practices and conduct trainings

QualificationsWe’re seeking a detail-oriented professional with a current CLS license, a Bachelor’s degree and:

•Experience with the regulations, laws, guidelines, and standards of licensing, accrediting, government and credentialing agencies
•A minimum of four years of clinical laboratory scientist experience
•Experience in quality assurance, quality improvement and compliance
•Experience in audit and assessment processes
•Background in deviation management and applying corrective action
•Proven experience in training and lecturing to large groups 
•Working knowledge of principles and tools of performance improvement
•Knowledge of project planning/implementation
•Experience writing procedures and reports
•Excellent interpersonal and group facilitation skills
•Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
•Supervisory experience a plus
•ASQ/CQA or ASQ/CQM certification highly desirable
