Requirements include: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or related field (SBB preferred).
  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist license required (NYS-DOE eligible candidates may obtain following hire).
  • Superior critical thinking, excellent oral/written communication and multitasking skills, in addition to computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.

Responsibilities include:
 
  • Performs testing on patient and donor samples, applying specialized immunohematology methods to resolve simple to complex serologic problems.
  • Managing the inventory and distribution of antigen-negative donor units for patients with special transfusion requirements.
  • Reporting findings to hospital staff, both verbally and in written reports, and consulting on a variety of issues related to immunohematology.
  • Providing excellent customer service and communication to internal and external clients.
Creating and maintaining neat and accurate records, as well as generating reports from data
