Education and Experience:
  • Bachelors of Science Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP or equivalent)
  • Bachelors of Science Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) (ASCP or equivalent)
  • Bachelors of Science Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) (ASCP or equivalent)
  • And some previous microbiology lab experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to understand basic computer functions.
  • Able to work rotating weekends and holidays required.
Must be able to perform the required physical demands with or without reasonable accommodation.

Job Description:

Community Tissue Services (CTS) is the largest nonprofit provider of skin grafts to surgeons for severe burn patients in the United States. We strive to be on the forefront of new graft development and biotechnology to better serve recipients and medical professionals. CTS is a quality, ethical provider of services to donor families, medical communities, recipients, and community partners through recovery, processing, and distribution of tissue grafts.

Medical Technologist 

2nd & 3rd Shifts Available
Join our team of blood/tissue bank laboratory professionals. Our microbiology department is growing! We are expecting a volume of 437,000 tests this year and hiring additional staff on 2nd & 3rd Shifts. We perform sterility testing on all tissue grafts, and leukoreduced apheresis units, culture other blood products as needed and provide environmental surveillance cultures. The job consists of performing clinical microbiology testing. This is done in accordance with standard operating procedures, follows all applicable regulatory standards.
The job functions include:
  • Performs microbiology testing.
  • Records information and test results for internal record keeping and external reporting.
  • Monitors supply inventory and orders microbiological supplies.
  • Performs proficiency and quality control testing.
  • Maintains equipment and keeps maintenance records.
  • Trains new hires.
  • Writes, reviews, and validates SOPs and training modules.
  • Execute validations, training modules, SOPs, Correct and Trends, and QIRs.
  • Review paperwork and reports.
  • Consistently demonstrates integration of CBC/CTS quality policy and guiding principles by modeling behavior that supports achieving our mission and vision. Supports and incorporates CBC/CTS business needs, goals, and performance indicators into all business decisions and actions. Exhibits support of our values, quality objectives, ethics, customer service, and confidentiality standards at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Director.
