Job Requirements:

Qualifications
• Clinical education in a Histotechnician (HT) program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an Associate’s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and training at a hospital
• HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) or eligible. Certification must be attained within one year of hire
• One year of experience working in an acute care facility as an HT or HTL preferred

The Histotechnologist maintains the principals of Lean Thinking and creates a work environment that positively promotes process improvement.
 
Essential Job Duties
• Takes the initiative and uses innovative ideas to add value to benefit the organization and take ownership of the outcome
• Maintains inter- and intradepartmental work flow by fostering a spirit of cooperation
• Manage laboratory supplies anticipating needs
• Perform embedding, sectioning, special stains, immunohistochemistry, and frozen sections
• Ensure that established productivity guidelines are followed
• Conduct quality control checks and document for each lab procedure on a daily basis
