Job Requirements:

Successful completion of color blindness test required.
Computer knowledge preferred.

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological AND at least two (2) years’ experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory; OR Associates Degree in chemical, physical or biological science or medical laboratory or equivalent educations and training; OR Individuals performing high complexity testing on or before April 24, 1995 with a high school diploma or equivalent with documented training may continue to perform testing only on those tests for which training was documented prior to September 1, 1997.

Licensure, Certifications:
ASCP or other appropriate licensing agency preferred.

One (1) year of experience preferred but not required.

Job Summary:  The Medical Technologist assists the professional staff in conducting, evaluating, and documenting routine and specialized tests of blood and other specimens in the areas of hematology, coagulation, serology, chemistry, urinalysis, and microbiology.  The Medical Technologist is responsible for meeting and maintaining established medical and laboratory protocols.  At a minimum, must perform established Washington Health System Core Medical Technologist Skills & Responsibilities.

Essential Functions:
1. Major Duties and Responsibilities
a. Accountable and responsible for the conducting, documenting, and evaluating blood tests and other specimens under the direct supervision of the Laboratory supervisor.  This position will adhere to established standards, policies, and procedures of Washington Health System.
b. Demonstrates competency in Washington Hospital System Core Medical Technologist Skills & Responsibilities.
c. Accurately reports information to members of the Laboratory Department team and other members of Washington Health System.
d. Completes all technical skills and patient care procedures as delegated according to established Washington Health System Core Medical Technologist Skills & Responsibilities.
