Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or a closely related field plus an internship. Three to four years of lab experience is required.
  • Current registration/certification as a Medical Technologist-MT(ASCP) or technologist registered or certified in specific categories as follows: SBB(ASCP), BB(ASCP), CLS(NCA).
  • Work requires the analytical skills to resolve highly complex problems requiring the application of clinical, scientific or technical principles, theories and concepts and in-depth, cross-functional experienced-based knowledge.
  • Work requires communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well-developed writing skills.

Job Description:

 
  • Supervising shifts in the absence of the Laboratory Manager and/or Technical Supervisor.
  • Assuring that adequate numbers of staff are scheduled to perform the work of the laboratory. Providing input to the hiring, progressive discipline and termination processes.
  • Working with staff to identify and resolve complex technical and procedural problems occurring on the shifts, and coaching staff on appropriate strategies for handling future occurrences.
  • Overseeing all aspects of component manufacturing in the laboratory including quality control, transmissible disease testing, results entry and labeling.
  • Communicating all significant problems, trends and issues to the leadership of the laboratory and developing strategies for improvement.
  • Training and teaching laboratory personnel. Contributing to department continuing education. May observe, guide, verify and check documentation of less experienced lab personnel.
  • Maintaining communication with customers of the laboratory.
  • Troubleshooting difficult situations and ensuring that all staff is providing timely, courteous and expert services to the customers of the CORE Lab.
