The Medical Technologist II precisely and accurately performs and evaluates a variety of technical procedures in Blood Bank or Microbiology and at least one other Lab section based on State licensure and experience. Utilizes all principles of quality control in the performance of laboratory testing according to established PBGMC and Tenet Healthcare Corporation Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and guidelines. Adheres to all Federal, State and Regulatory Agency standards (CAP, Joint Commission, AHCA, AABB). Performs and fulfills all HICS (Hospital Incident Command System) responsibilities as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency/disaster.
The Medical Technologist II uses appropriate SOP's in the performance of patient testing. All equipment is used and maintained according to Manufacturer and SOP recommendation. This position requires the use of established quality control monitors to ensure proper processing and accurate test results. The work requires the use of proper personal protective equipment at all times and consideration must be given to the spatial environment. In order to maintain patient care and staffing fluctuations, this position may require the Medical Technologist to work in all areas per state license and including but not limited to the Open Heart Lab.
Knowledgeable and proficient in all laboratory testing. Employee must demonstrate proficiency, work independently, and take direction from immediate technologist or supervisor.
