Job Requirements:

Baccalaureate degree in a biological or physical science or Medical Technology training and have at least six years of current laboratory training or experience OR. Have previously qualified or could have qualifies as a General Supervisor under 42 CFR 493.1427 of the Federal Regulations published March 14, 1990 (55 FR 9538) on or before February 28, 1992 and have a least six years of current laboratory training and experience. Certification/License: MT (ASCP); MT (HS), CLS (NCA), M (ASCP) OR EQUIVALENT Scheduled Hours Full-time, 40 hours per week, day shift

Job Description:

Develops, plans, directs, coordinates and controls all activities of the Section to ensure the efficient operation of that section that meets and exceeds the customer's expectation. Ensures that all activities are conducted in accordance to acceptable clinical technology, administrative policy, regulatory and accreditation requirements and medical ethics. Assumes responsibility for the creation of fiscally sound section's salaries, supplies and capital equipment budgets and the monitoring for any and all expense variances. Coordinates activities with the Business Manager. Investigates and recommends new/replacement instrumentation to Business Manage and Administrative Director. Acts as a liaison between customers and the laboratory to promote increased customer satisfaction with laboratory services by both successfully answering inquiring/resolving problems and by presenting a positive, professional image. Provides leadership in the management of Human Resouces including, but not limited to: The hiring, counseling and evaluation of employees in the section. Creating work schedules, developing applicable education and enrichment programs and conducting regular staff meetings. Demonstrates ablility and initiative to problem solve with employees and other managers/supervisors. Develops and implements the Quality Improvement plan of the section and ensures the timely submission of CBI monitors and recommendations for improvement to the Administrative Director. Develops, directs, and coordinates the educational activities of students completing internship programs in section. Interacts with College/School Program for competency criteria, testing and related matters. Serves as representative to hospital committees as required or requested. Performs applicable IS procedures including, but not limited to: Test dictionary, editing, interface reliability and accuracy, and interacting with IS and software vendor for the resolution of problems or implementation of enhancements.
