What you Will Do:
The Assistant Director of Clinical Lab Operations serves as a member of the leadership team reporting to the Administrative Director, Laboratories of Pathology. This position will have management responsibility for several large areas within the laboratories of pathology.  The Assistant Director is responsible for the clinical and business performance in each of these laboratory areas, to include: policies, procedures, standards and objectives for the provision of laboratory services, quality assurance and quality control, financial performance, staff performance and lean process improvement.
The Assistant Director has 8 direct reports who manage 160 total FTEs, and is responsible for a budget of $18 million (approx.).  The laboratory areas include:  Core Laboratories (North and South), Phlebotomy, Accessioning, Outreach Services, Send-out Testing, Immunology, OR Lab, Biocontainment Lab, Point of Care Testing, the Call Center and the Laboratory Liaisons/Customer Service Team.

•           Minimum of 6 years of laboratory experience required along with an employment record of progressive management experience in a laboratory setting.
•           Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in health care administration or business preferred.
•           Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) required.  Subspecialty certification preferred.
•           Highly proficient in laboratory processes and operations and laboratory information systems (LIS).  Strong knowledge of Epic (EMR) and Cerner (LIS) preferred.
•           Strong financial management skills.
•           Outstanding interpersonal/communication skills.   Can maintain collaborative, effective working relationships with laboratory staff, nursing and clinicians.
•           Demonstrates leadership, as shown by a history of key accomplishments.
